Orton Hall in Cumbria is a magnificent 17th Century Jacobean mansion. You approach the self catering holiday cottage through large wrought iron, electrically operated gates leading into the driveway through the grounds of Orton Hall.

Staying at our Cumbrian holiday cottage gives you full access of these extensive grounds with lawns, mature trees, flowerbeds, a pond and sitting areas. You also have use of the large, communal, oak panelled lounge in the hall with log fire, piano and snooker table.

The hall dates back to 1662 and has the atmosphere of an elegant, country mansion. It has been carefully refurbished and modernised to give modern comfortable facilities, whilst retaining its historical charm. A laundry room with automatic washer and tumble drier are available.

To access the self catering cottage, pass the front of the hall and turn right at the end of the building into a secluded courtyard with steps leading to the front door of the property.

Richmond Cottage combines the benefit of being part of a beautiful old hall with the privacy of a separate wing with its own entrance. It has a large, comfortable loungewith log fire, dining facilities, TV, video, stereo and plenty of books. Some videotapes and CDs are provided for you to use during your stay, but feel free to bring your own.

From it you have access to a well-equipped kitchen with electric hob and oven, microwave, washing up machine, fridge freezer and all the pots and pans you could need. There are two charming bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and WC and the second twin bedroom has views across the garden. A well appointed shower room with WC and washbasin leads off the spacious hallway.
